Dave Petrescue was the Senior Pastor of my church in Egypt, Maadi Community Church. He died tragically on 5th September 2006.
I left Egypt in 2007 and so I I came upon the davepetrescue.com website by accident, contacted the designer (Holly Reynolds) and was overjoyed when, with Brenda’s encouragement, she invited me to participate in this project – not in any specific way, but as another set of eyes and with different technical experiences.
This is a very emotional project for me. Dave was a wonderful guy who simply exuded the Holy Spirit and Christ’s selfless love – his love of life and the people around him was contagious and he led Maadi Community Church with a passion that is very hard to put into words. God reached out and touched thousands of people through Dave’s life and ministry – of many nationalities and denominations – and I have been blessed just to have know him for a few short years.
The key objectives of this project are to (a) promote and enable purchasing of Dave’s book “Pastor Dave’s Reflections” and (b) make available online audio recordings of all of Dave’s sermons from his time at Maadi Community Church.
The design template has been hand-crafted by Holly Reynolds (who is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is managing the project) built on the “Soft Green” WordPress theme designed by Damien Allen. It’s a lovely design that definitely suits the purpose of the website – well done Holly!
There is no finite timeframe to achieve everything that they want to achieve – and that is OK! The key thing is to do it well so that as many people as possible can get access to these wonderful recordings.
Being able to participate in this terrific project, even on the periphery, is a huge blessing for me and I look forward to the day when the archive is up and running and the website is properly launched.
