Andy Thompson

I met Andy Thompson about 18 months or so ago.  He’s the Chaplain at St Andrew’s Anglican Church in Abu Dhabi – he’s been around in the Middle East for a very long time, working in several countries.

In addition to being a vicar (pastor), husband, dad and a very competent magician (yes, you did read that right – he’s a magician and has a book called ‘Gospel Magic’), he is also an accomplished author who has written two books with unique insights into Christianity in the Middle East.  The first “The Christian Church in Kuwait” was written (funnily enough) while he was the Chaplain of St Paul’s Church in Kuwait.  More recently he published “Christianity in the UAE.  Culture & Heritage” – a fascinating insight into the long and surprising history of Christians here in the UAE.  If you get the chance, get the books!

Andy’s a real character and it’s a privilege to call him a mate – I’m glad I was able to help him with his little website to help promote his books. The site is very simple, static and built using the default 2011 theme from WordPress.

And if you ever come to Abu Dhabi you must make the effort to go hear Andy preach!

  1. LOLOL unfortunately not. Several people have asked about this but in the context of where we are and what Andy often has to say, recording and podcasting his sermons could be terminal!!

BTW I am working through the emails – will email you about skyping tomorrow :-)
