The RiverLife website is live!

I’m well chuffed to report that the new website for RiverLife Community Church in Bli Bli has gone live!

As I mentioned in a previous post, this has been very much a text book project with the ‘clients’ (Rob Rodgers the Senior Pastor and his wife Shelley) driving the design, being clear about their purpose and providing the content and visual themes clearly and on-time. We also worked together on new logo designs for the church to reflect the merger of the two churches in Bli Bli and North Shore and after going through the discovery process and us trying out some ideas, they developed the final logo (which I think is GR8!!) with the help of Frank & Dixon, a Christian communications outfit based in Sippy Downs (great place name!) on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. read on

St Martin’s Church, Sharjah

St Martin’s is one of the longest established Anglican churches in the UAE – the first St Martin’s was built in 1926 as part of the British military garrison. Today St Martin’s is one of five churches that make up the Chaplaincy of Dubai and Sharjah with the Northern Emirates,  and it is located in an ecumenical church compound on land donated by the Ruler of Sharjah. St Martin’s has a strong congregation and provides worship facilities for over 80 other congregations from different denominations, worshiping in many different languages.

St Martin’s has never had a website before but all of the churches in the Chaplaincy have been encouraged to develop at least a basic website with some information about themselves, to help newcomers find the churches, and to celebrate what is going on in the various emirates of the UAE.

So with the help of the Chaplain, Revd Dr Ernest Victor, and his team we have put up this very simple site (using the Boldy theme).  Later in the year we will be doing training with the church staff and be encouraging them to develop more content.

St Luke’s Church, Ras Al Khaimah

St Luke's Church | Ras Al Khaimah | UAE

St Luke’s church in Ras Al Khaimah is a small Anglican church.  In the past two years funded by the Chaplaincy of Dubai and Sharjah with the Northern Emirates, a new church has been built for St Lukes on land donated by the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.  This is just one amazing example of where God is influencing the rulers in the Middle East to support His church.  Sometimes, especially when it has happened regularly, it seems almost ‘expected’ or unremarkable – however, such gifts, such vision by the rulers, and such generosity are truly miracles that only God could have achieved. read on

RiverLife Community Church

RiverLife Community Churchis the result of the merger in the summer of 2011 of North Shore Baptist Church and Bli Bli Community Baptist Church.  The initial connection between Small Beginnings and Pastor Rob Rodgers was made by my great mate Bill Joukhadar when they had been discussing small groups for Rob’s church.  Subsequently Rob contacted me to help them develop a new logo for the new merged church, RiverLife Community Church, and we are still working through that design progress – we are close but not there yet! read on

Josh Stephens – stepping out into the big wide world.

Roy and Becky Stephen are great (more than great actually) friends of ours – we come from very different places and experiences yet we connected with a strength and passion that only comes from a Divine connection. Their son, Joshua (and coincidentally we have a grandson called Joshua too!!) is embarking upon adulthood – having completed his high school diploma he is about to go off to the YWAM training school in Denver for a few months (including an awesome overseas assignment!!) before entering into college life. read on

God’s gifts

We must never forget the gifts that God has given us- one of which is music to worship Him with. As I was working on a site today this song came up in my playlist – and it is one of my favourites – but I had to stop, and worship and pray that I would strive to surrender all, in order to get closer to Jesus – who surrendered it all for us. Thank you Jesus!!
